3 Friendship Tools for [STUDENT NAME GOES HERE] This Month πŸ’™

Hey Reader!

February is here, and with Valentine's Day, Galentine's, and mid-winter social events, we're talking about friendships a TON this month ❀️

If [STUDENT_NAME GOES HERE] is navigating friend drama, feeling left out, or struggling to make new connections, we've found 3 really specific tools you can use this month to supplement our coaching 😁

(also - quick reminder to book a parent call with Coach [COACH_NAME GOES HERE] if you haven't already ✨ You can do so here: https://unstoppableucoaching.com )

Onto the tools!!

1. The Reframe Question (When They Feel Left Out)

The moment [STUDENT_NAME GOES HERE] sees that Instagram story or hears about plans they weren't invited to, resist saying "It's not a big deal." That dismisses real pain. Not helpful.

Instead, validate first: "I know that stings. I'd feel left out too."

Then gently reframe: "Who are the people who do include you consistently?" This shifts focus from one missed invite to the friendships that are actually working 🫢

2. Low-Pressure Conversation Starters (For Making New Friends)

If [STUDENT_NAME GOES HERE] wants to make friends but doesn't know how to start, send them this post of mine that has helped a ton of kids start conversations and shift their mindset:

3. The Safety Check (For Identifying Real Friends)

If you sense a friendship is one-sided, don't tell them what to do. Instead, coach with questions:

  • "Do you feel like yourself around them?"
  • "Do they give you energy or take it away?"
  • "Do they include you naturally, or do you feel like you're always proving your worth?"

Help them recognize what real friendship feels like! Safe, balanced, low drama, and fun ❀️

Reader, friendships will always be complex.

We can't protect kid(s) from every hurt. But we can teach them to navigate with resilience and self-awareness!

That's something we're working on with tons of kids these next few months! Again, if you haven't scheduled your monthly parent call, please do so here: https://unstoppableucoaching.com

Rooting for you!!

I didn't find my people until college 😣 Genuinely thought something was wrong with me in middle school and high school. I thought I was social enough.. funny enough.. trying hard enough. But the friendships never felt like mine. I'd say I had acquaintances, but not real friends.. and that hurt πŸ’” I remember watching the popular kids who seemed to have it all figured out and thinking to myself.. why isn't that me? I was jealous of the the big friend group, the inside jokes, and the "easy"...

I got back from Mexico a week ago and I'm still processing it. 14 of us packed into a beach house in Cancun for 4 days πŸ˜„πŸ–οΈ Coaches, team members, spouses... the whole squad was there. People who had mostly only seen each other through a Zoom screen finally in the same room, eating every meal together, laughing too loud, and staying up way too late talking about life and work and everything in between. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to foster an environment and culture like this so writing...

Help Your Kid Manage Distractions πŸ•ΉπŸ“± Hey friends! From doom scrolling and YouTube videos to loud workspaces and live gaming with friends, distractions are everywhere. Everyone (including me!) gets sidetracked sometimes. The issue is when distraction becomes a habit. Once your kid starts grabbing their phone any time schoolwork feels hard, their brain learns: β€œEscape = relief.” And next time they hit friction, they repeat it πŸ” That’s how students end up stuck in the worst loop - either working...
